I am breaking the rule of providing a more affordable luxury theme to this blog for a special treat of a stay. Cas Gasi is a one of a kind retreat that deserves a mention on here, even though it is definitely found in the not completely affordable luxury genre of hotels.
It is notoriously hard to find luxury accommodation for affordable prices in Ibiza, the range goes from top to bottom with little to nothing in between. The island is a money magnet right now and therefore the prices you find are often higher than the average holiday in Europe.
However, I think hotel Cas Gasi is a rare treasure to stay in, worth spending the extra pennies for a truly special stay. Set in the hills outside Santa Gertrudis, up a country track amongst Ibiza’s agricultural lands, the hotel is a boutique, rural retreat.
Beautiful in design, the decor has a mix of Spanish and Eastern influences. Eclectic furnishings fill every room, giving off a well-kept, country manor style. Wooden, beamed ceilings feature throughout the hotel, which is spread across the hillside in different structures. Balconies and terraces are adorned with creeping flowered vines that give a serene level of privacy to this stay.
The gardens are a prominent feature adhering to the countryside location and enhancing the tranquil experience expected from the price. Cas Gasi also achieve an awesome balance of relaxed attentiveness with their staff, perfect for feeling intimate with your party. They know when to advise and share their insights, and when to pass you by. A service that befits a five-star establishment.
The eclectic vibe Cas Gasi chooses for its decor does not stop at the furnishings, they have an original presence that’s unique to them. I was most charmed by the hotel dog, Clara. We made friends immediately and this quickly escalated to her staying in my room for the night. Of course, this is not compulsory! But I was very pleased to find a home away from home with Clara.
One night a particular swarm of wasps were bothering us as we dined, our waiter showed us a cure by burning ground coffee nearby to shoo them away (which worked!). He looked down at Clara by our sides and said with an amused smile, ‘I can’t do anything about Clara I’m afraid’. This is the amiable charm of Cas Gasi, the relaxed kind of luxury I prefer.
For the nitty-gritty of the hotels amenities, there are two outside pools, an outstanding gym that offers yoga in the morning and taught by an extremely proficient instructor. Open air massages are available, under a four-poster bed with the on site masseuse. You’ll also find the hotel’s staff very willing to fulfil any request you might have for activities.
The food on site is beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients from the extensive kitchen garden, or locally caught on the island. Personalised cocktails are a treat to enjoy before and after dining, and there is a very helpful sommelier mingling around to assist the area too.
Cas Gasi definitely beats to its own drum and it was a drum I was very pleased to hear. If you are looking to unwind in a peaceful setting away from the bright lights of Ibiza’s party district, it is the perfect stay. Ideal for honeymooners or close parties looking for an intimate break in unfaltering luxury.
